Fruits from Paradise

First thing I ate as soon as I woke up my first dayin Colombia... I couldn't wait any longer to eat it!

It's so sweet and to open it you have to treat it as it was an egg... Once opened you just have to eat it...
As it's name suggests it's part of the family of the passifloraceae, a family from Central and South America, and owes its name to the passiflora -or passion fruit. This name was given by jesuit  monks because of the similarities with different Christ's passion symbols such as the crown of thorns.
Fruit properties: powerful antioxidant. Contains potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and also b and c vitamins. It's a natural sedative and tranquilizer and has good digestive properties.
Other fruits in Colombia, members of the passifloraceae are maracuyà and curuba.

Altre varietà di frutta...
